This Aurora backyard project was designed around a clear goal: create a more functional outdoor living space with dedicated zones for cooking, dining, and relaxing by the hot tub.

Key Features & Design Elements

  • Multi-Level Deck Layout

    The deck was divided into separate levels to create clear zones for the BBQ, hot tub, and outdoor dining area. This gave the homeowners a more organized and flexible backyard layout.

  • Hot Tub Area with Privacy Screen

    The hot tub was positioned on the side of the deck and paired with a privacy screen and bench, giving the homeowners a more comfortable and private place to relax.

  • Convenient BBQ Zone

    The BBQ area was placed close to the kitchen door, making outdoor cooking easier whether the family was eating inside or outside.

  • Tinted Glass Railings

    Tinted glass railings preserved the open view toward the field while adding a subtle layer of privacy around the deck.

  • Skirted Deck with Storage Access

    The deck was skirted all the way around and included an access door, creating a large hidden storage area underneath.

⚙️ Challenges & Solutions

One of the main design challenges was organizing several backyard functions within one deck: BBQ, hot tub, dining, privacy, views, and storage.

We addressed this with a multi-level deck design that separated each activity zone without making the backyard feel disconnected. The hot tub was placed in a more private side area with a screen and bench, while the dining area remained open to the view through tinted glass railings. Full skirting with an access door also turned the underside of the deck into useful storage.

The finished deck gave the homeowners a more complete backyard living space with dedicated areas for cooking, dining, relaxing, and enjoying the hot tub.

By combining PVC decking, tinted glass railings, a private hot tub zone, and concealed storage, the project created a practical low-maintenance deck that made better use of the entire backyard.
